Almost Holy Title Sequence
Today is a little throwback to the Almost Holy title sequence. I love the look of this so much. This was completed close to wrapping up the film for premiere at Tribeca Film Festival. The film saw so many different versions as the political landscape of Ukraine changed over the course of putting together this film. When we premiered the film, the conflict with Russia was escalating quickly.
The name of the film, up to the last minute, went through several name changes. Our working title was Crocodile Gennadiy, which makes sense if you ee the film. That eventually led us to simply call it Gennadiy. We started to realize that it was commonly pronounced wrong and even misunderstood. I remember we stood in the office and someone had mentioned something that Gennadiy says in the film, and Almost Holy immediately clicked.
The score for the opening sequence was done by Atticus Ross and Nick Chuba. It's called Mokhnenko. Full album is on Spotify (Thanks Sacred Bones Records!) and it's a career highlight for me to have been able to collaborate with Atticus Ross on the soundtrack. Plus he offered some of the most instrumental advice throughout the development of the film.
Steve Hoover oversaw the development with Samm Hodges mastery of the vfx.
