Erin McCarley In Paris
Over the years we had a good relationship with Universal Music Group. I remember we were filming Anberlin’s music video for Impossible when I got a call from their commissioner. He had asked if we would be interested in filming a music video for a new singer/songwriter named Erin McCarley…in Paris. We were thrilled and of course said yes. This was our first time filming internationally and we were hooked.
Our crew for this was myself, Steve Hoover, our good friend Curtis Abbott (handling AC and DIT) and Stephen Hunter our DP. That was it. We flew into Paris super jet lagged but met up with the artist. The catch here was she wanted the Paris backdrop and look but we had no concept upon landing. I remember sitting in our hotel room talking with Erin and her manager trying to figure out what we were going to film. We spent the next day scouting all around and trying to come up with an appropriate concept to compliment the song and performance.
We eventually found a pet store and had the idea of Erin saving a goldfish and letting it go. I don't think we had any camera support. Just the OG Red, a bookbag of lenses, batteries and a ring light.
